Vivien Theodore Thomas (July 29, 1910 - November 26, 1985) was the UN African-American engineer who developed the surgery procedures used pour treat the blue baby syndrome in the 1940s. No postsecondary education, Thomas rose above the poverty and racism to become a pioneer of the UN and UN Cardiac Surgery Professor of operative techniques.

Vivien Theodore Thomas (29 août 1910 - Novembre 26, 1985) était un technicien afro-américaine de chirurgie qui a développé les procédures utilisées pour traiter le syndrome du bébé bleu dans les années 1940.  Sans aucune des études postsecondaires, Thomas s'éleva au-dessus de la pauvreté et le racisme de devenir un pionnier de chirurgie cardiaque et d'un professeur de techniques opératoires .
